Description | This locus should be combined with Locus 2 for matters of interpretation. There was much confusion as to wheater or not there was a soil change within the trench (see pages 19, 25 and 29 of trench book). The soil, which apperared in the southern portion of the trench, was somewhat lighter than that around it and seemed to have more inclusions of carbon and decaying plaster. In reality the soil was probably somewhat more bleached from the sun, or the underlying bedrock, which was ultimately higher near where the locus appeared, could have contributed to the color difference in the soil. All material pertaining to Locus 3 should be viewed as a part of Locus 2. |
