Description | Locus 3 is in the southern half and eastern half a yellow, brown, and reddish chalky deteriorating rock soil pack. In the northwestern half, Locus 3 is consistent with Locus 2, a medium brown and yellow mottled claylike soil, but beneath it is the yellow, brown, and reddish chalky deteriorating rock soil. Locus 3 was declared over the area of the whole trench for ease during the ten centimeter cut that was excavated. Some roots were still present in the soil matrix of Locus 3, but all the stumps were primarily removed, apart from the largest stump near the western wall. No artifacts were recovered from within the yellow, brown, and reddish chalky deteriorating rock soil pack. Terra cotta, pottery, and some worked chert were recovered from the formerly Locus 2 soil in the northwestern part of the trench. No bone was found in Locus 3. The soil pack was extremely loose, and an approximately ten centimeter cut was made through it. |
