Catalog ID Note Sediment Sample
Description

Sediment sample 28.22 was collected on the 19.7.2022 and had an original volume of 27 litres. It derives from trench 101, locus 4. The sample was floated on the 26.7.2022, details on its content can only be assessed in the future, but the preliminary impression was that charred plant remains are not abundant. The heavy fraction was sorted on the 1.8.2022. It was divided into a >6mm, >3mm, and >1mm fraction. Of the >6mm and >3mm fraction 100% were sorted, the >1mm fraction was not sampled due to very low abundance of finds. The variety of arte- and geofacts was low. In the >6mm fraction bone and pottery/terracotta were recovered. In the >3mm fraction charcoal, mollusc shell, and hammerscale were recovered. In the >3mm fraction were undiagnostic bone and pottery/terracotta fragments observed, which though have not been recovered.
