Description | An area of high artifact density and several distinct architectural features. Between a wheat-stubble field (1530) and an olive grove (1529) are a number of cut stone blocks. One of these is in situ (in DU 1529). There are architectural blocks strewn on both sides of the gravel road, especially North, and a number of artifacts with ritual associations: quadriped figurines, miniature vessels, perrhiranterion (ritual basin) rim fragments, inscribed pithos rim. Concentration of material near the road on the South. Size and density of architectural ceramics and stone suggest significant monumental buildings. The LOCA sits on an elevated terrace. To the Northwest one can see Gonia, and after a walk through olive groves one can see Rachi Boska (Perdikaria) to the South. See Tartaron et al. 2006. Nicknamed "Pantheon" during survey. |
