Description | ide, 7.5YR 6/4. The Munsell color reading could have been slightly off since the mortar was probably stained from the earth above it and the earth that accumulated on it. It was found sloppily packed against the plaster around the column and above and around the stylobate. The plaster layer on the column that remains was preserved behind the mortar. This mortar lay on top of the layer of abandonment (Locus 6) against and above the stylobate (Locus 10), and against the wall (Locus 11) it is the same level as the rubble layer (Locus 4) at its lowest east edge. Above it lay the same rubble layer (Locus 4). Underneath it the stylobate was cracked, which could have been the reason why the column was reinforced with mortar. |
