Description | Roman villa site with later Medieval remains. Consists of a significant artifact scatter of ancient date and architecture (cut stone), plus later phases. Located south of Marougka on lower slopes of North face of Oneion, on the North side of paved road running East-West just below pig slaughterhouse. On lower slopes of an alluvial fan system dominated by olive and citrus groves, vineyards. Many grab samples taken in 2002 during revisit to attempt to refine chronology of the site. Nicknamed "Villa of the Pigdog" during survey. See Pettegrew 2015. |
