General remarks Area in and around human skeleton. Unclear at the moment whether it is a proper burial or not, however the position of the skeleton and apparent lack of a burial trench would indicate it is not. Skeleton is an unusual postion: face down with legs tucked under chest, right arm tucked under chest and left flexed to the left of the body and the skull postioned almost directly parrallel to the line of the body. Though articulatable, due to wetness and age the skeleton is prone to flaking during excavation, especially the skull and left scapula. Burial excavated by human bone expert Andrew ...

Has note Contexts excavated in trenches were recorded using the "locus system." A locus is any discrete three-dimensional entity excavated in a trench. The key to the locus system is the recognition that a locus is any one thing. Differences in soil composition or texture are therefore as important as, for example, the difference between a pit and a wall. If two entities were distinct, they were considered separate loci and were therefore assigned separate locus numbers. It should also be noted that every context excavated in a trench was given a locus number and thus the trench itself is made up completely of excavated loci.
