Trench T95
Size max. pres. length 0.1600m; max. pres. width 0.1191m; max. pres. pan thickness 0.0214m; max. pres. flange height 0.0484m; max. pres. flange thickness 0.0273m
Condition The pan tile is broken on two sides at the edges. The exterior face of the pan tile is heavily worn, chipped, pitted, and abraided. The inside face is finished and incised with two marks. It is worn, abraided, and bears modern scratch marks. The flange is finished on the inside and the outside. It has modern break and chip marks along its height. The entire fragment is heavily encrusted.
Description A flanged pan tile fragment with possible sigla on both the finished and unfinished faces. The pan tile fragment is roughly triangular in shape with sides measuring 0.1176m by 0.1214m by 0.1600m. The longest side has a concave lipped attachment to the flange, which rises up 0.0326m from that intersection at a steep slope, but it is broken at the top with the result that the full height of the flange is not preserved. The outside of the flange has a flat finish. The interior face of the pan has two marks. One is a large 'X' shape, possibly made by finger impression, with one line 0.041m in length (0.00424m in width) and the other preserved at 0.0653m in length (0.00754m in width) before terminating at a broken edge. Near the tip of the pan furthest away from the flange there is another incised linear mark measuring 0.02486m in length and 0.00334m in width with a chipped area near the middle that widens the mark to 0.00707m for 0.0102m. The exterior unfinished side of the tile fragment also has a possible linear mark resulting from a finger incision. It runs parallel to the finished edge (0.05541m away from it) for a length of 0.0961m with a width of 0.00568m.
