Description | Foundation level underneath the pulpitum. Only the top is visible in areas behind the pulpitum curb where the cut exists (see Locus 32, above) and the mortar filling the cut has been removed·(see Locus 31, above). Where exposed, the foundations appear to consist of small sandstone blocks and sandstone blocks held together with mortar. Where the limestone curb (Locus 17) runs under the pulpitum, the foundations abut, and some of the mortar runs over, indicating that it is a later feature than the curb. |
