Condition Fragment is broken transversely through the flange in two places as well as in one additional place through the pan. Heavily warped by vitrification. Worn, chipped, and encrusted. Consolidated from five pieces.
Description A fragment of a pan tile preserving portions of the pan and flange which is both slipped and heavily vitrified. The interior of the pan is finished and the exterior/underside is unfinished. The top edge and side face of the flange preserve a red slip as well as at the point of transition from the flange edge to face and on the face two mold marks running down the flange parallel to each other and the flange edge. At one break edge the pan is still perpendicular to the flange, but on the opposite break edge the pan is warped causing it to meet the flange at an obtuse angle. The pan is concave on the unfinished underside which in turn causes the point at which two break edges converge to angle upward from what would be its proper position had it not been vitrified.
