Has note | The term "group" was reserved for cases when analyzers wished to discuss groups of items in a finds bag. For example, when a number of pot sherds from the same pot, or a number of bones from the same animal, could be shown to belong together by re-fitting pieces, artifacts from a finds bag were recorded as a group. Ceramic sherds were also often grouped to record the amount of sherds of a certain type in the bag. A group is, therefore, more than one item from a finds bag that were recorded together. In most cases remarks about the group were recorded and a few "group photos" were taken. |
