A 15cm cut was taken in meters F-G/68-70, extending the depth of the trnech in these meters from 145 to 165cm. Beginning at a depth of ca. 135 to 145cm the soil in the cut became light brown in color and much looser in consitency. This marks the first notable soil change in these meters. The light brown soil contained sporadic concentrations of orange and yellow soil and small pieces of carbonized wood. In addition, the rock pack of meters F-G/68-70 abated significantly at the point of
the soil change. Only a few pieces of worn tile and four frangments of a molded bucchero pot were discovered in the light brown soil. The presence of sporadic concentrations of carbon in a stratum otherwise almost completely barren of material is rather curious.
A 15cm cut was then begun in meters H-I/68-71 to a depth of ca. 105 to 140cm. The soil was dark brown in color and contained many roots and small rocks. One quarter box of worn impasto pottery and one half a cassetta of tile, including some badly weathered ppieces, were discovered.
