P-R 62-64

The fourth cut into the plaster layer was continued (depth 1.1 m): P-Q 62; RQ 63 (Q only partially excavated) and P-R 64.

In P-R 64 the pithos concentration from P-R 65 continued (app 1 cassetta) while very few fragments were found in 62 or 63. Tile as well as plaster fragments were rather abundant throughout the treanch: 2 1/2 cassette of plaster and 4 cassette of tile. Most of the tile fragments were small and did not form any tile fall.

One large pan tile in R 62 (vertical) was photographed and left in situ (p 42 ).

THe burn layer was reached throughout the trench at depth 1.1 m. The plaster concentration is barely visible in R 64. 5 boxes of pottery and bone were found.

P-R 62-64

The fourth cut into the plaster layer was finished (Q 63 and P 63).

In P 63 a large plaster fragment (app 34 x 23 x 11) with 2 finished edges was recovered. It was left in situ for photographs. The tile in R 62 (see p 43 ) was removed. A raking sima fragment was found in R 63 as well as a forno fragment. 2 1/2 cassetta of tile, 1 1/2 cassette of plaster, and 2 boxes of pottery were found.
