AM

Work began by scraping back the soil in the south 1x1 meter area just south of the rock feature in locus 2 and in the northwestern meter within the middle of the northern and southern rocks along the western half of the trench. Buckets will continue to be sieved every third bucket. Since the soil remains slightly damp, attention will be paid to uncovering the flaky light yellow soil throughout the trench. There continues to be little to no material recovered in these areas. To get a better understanding of the rocks extending through T-59 and T-65 , it was decided that the rock packing in the northeastern 2 meters between

the larger rocks will be taken out to see if there is a clearer understanding uncovered of the purpose for the rock packing. The small rocks will be defined and lifted out when loosened.

Within the rock feature, small chunks of carbon are appearing with the small carbonized seeds.

Work continued defining any medium to large sized rocks in the northern meter where the locus 2 feature was. While there were no longer any small rocks underneath the feature, there does still appear to be medium to large size rocks under the rock packing. In addition, there continues to be small worn pieces of terracotta among the rocks in the feature. Once all the rocks were removed and the larger rocks were defined, work switched to scraping the dirt in the southern 2nd meter and the northwestern meter to see if the yellow flaky soil extends throughout the trench. Due to rain, the day ended approximately 2 \xbd hours early. No end of day elevations were taken.
