The picture is facing roughly N from grid N-O 1-2 ( see trench plan p. 102 ).  E of the large treestump marked with an arrow is the pit which was excavated separately and which is referred to on p. 152 ff.

T6E (2)

Excavation continued on the area B-I 4-10 and B-M 4-6.  Many tile fragments - some large continued to be found.  3 boxes of tile from this area were dumped.  Excavation was extended to include the entire area north of M and west of 10 covered by the grid.  This was done to trace the courses of several "lines of stones" which had come to light on previous days.  A spindle whorl was found at J2.  This process of cleaning yielded 2 boxes of tiles and 1 box of mixed pottery and bones.  A further one metre extension of the trench was made into the area designated C11 - I11 on the grid

T6E (1)

The second layer produced pieces of procession frieze and lateral sima with a concentration to grid N-O 6 - and westwards.

The dump from T2 was removed in order to extend the trench T6D eastwards.
