Morning started with baulk trimming in meters N 2-4, W 1-3. No material was recovered. Then, excavation of the feature in locus 11 continued. Area including locus 11 and surrounding locus 9 was leveled down 5 cm using mesteline, bringing it to 60-65 cm b.d.

Soil in locus 9 was continuously pale olive, with numerous rocks and chalky white calcium inclusions.

Locus 11 soil was olive brown [ 2.5 Y, 4/3] with carbon inclusions, concentration of which is particularly heavy

in eastern portion of meters N 3-4, W 2. Numerous stones were exposed in southern half of N 4 W 2.

Large, considerably well preserved fragments of pottery, including moulded rims and a base were concentrated in the western portion of N 4 W 2. Material recovered today included one full latte box of bone and pottery: 25 bone fragments ( 3 teeth); 2 extremely worn tile fragments (2 cm); 3 bucchero, 15 red ware, 20 coarse ware, and 71 impasto fragments. Some of the pottery appeared to be coil made. Also an amorphous bronze piece and a fragment of Greek (possibly Corinthian) vessel were found.
