Work continued on the new trench. Four more boxes of tiles were found this day, among which were pieces of a probably almost complete tile in the south-west corner. Also about a dozen pieces of plaster, several quite big. At a depth

of 45-50 cm stone was beginning to show that appeard to be bedrock. After more digging it was clear that this was confined toa band about 80 cm's width. Leaving two pockets of earth to the northand south. In the nothern one, which was filled with yellowishearth a lost of mostly very fragmentary pottery was found. Four pieces of raised bucchero (three from the same vase). In all about half a box of sherds were found in the trench. One box of pottery and a strawberry carton of bones was taken downto Murlo.
