Metal and Slag Analysis:

Twenty four fragments of metal were recovered from T 62 during the 2014 excavation season, three of which were modern. The most fragments were found in Locus 11 , though many were small flakes collected in bulk. Of the total fragments, one was cataloged, 20140061

20140061 . Thirty three fragments of slag, weighing 162 grams, were recovered from T 62 in the 2014 excavation season. The greatest number, seventeen, came from Locus 8 and weighed 89 grams. One fragment of slag adhered to terra cotta, 20140024 20140024 , was cataloged. In addition to slag, the presence of vitrified terra cotta may further indicate intense burning in the area of T 62 and especially in Civitate A twenty meters to its west, as associated with small scale metal production.
