Today we are spending increased time straightening the balks around Locus 6 . Point I (the eastern balk) had been gradually approaching Point J (the 195 E marker). The eastern balk, though smooth, slopes considerably. The problem with straightening the balks is that the adjacent balks of earlier trenches, having eroded, slope at a significant angle, and the segments that run through this trench must be plumb. At the same time, excavation continues in Locus 5 and Locus 6 . The area incorporated into Locus 5 on Friday continues to produce stones in a rather dense package. We also completed 2 pick-passes in Locus 6 .
Pottery Count: 25 total sherds. Locus 5 : 2 undiagnostic impasto sherds. Locus 6 : 23 sherds. 1 undiagnostic buccheroid sherd, 2 impasto rim sherds, 19 undiagnostic impasto, and 1 undiagnostic orange ware sherd.
