Passes: 1 pick pass through trench beginning in the south

Picked through the trench, still claylike soil with many roots. Worked on straightening the baulk walls.

Soil: gray/brown claylike

Passes: 1/3 of the trench working from the south

Terracotta: 1 bowl

Pottery: 4 pcs incl. 1 rim

Continued cleaning baulk walls. Began second pick pass of the day. Soil still the same. Eric found 3 fragments of a pithos rim in the southwest quadrant of the trench. Made it a special find to teach the students how a special find is recorded. Coordinates for Special Find #1 are: 182.35E 47.8S. The elevation is 87cm Below Datum Point. Cleaned up the loose soil from the first 1/3 of the pass and then it began to rain. Day ended around 2:30pm.
