Continued leveling the trench floor in Z/13-14 in the southern portion of the meters where it sloped up toward the baulk.  The soil was predominately dark gray with flecks of carbon.  This work produced 3/4 of a latte box of pottery and bone, 10-12 small fragments of plaster and tile and a piece of slag (#1).

Completed yesterday afternoon's cut in Y-Z/18 through Y-Z/16 as well as a second cut through this area.  The soil was mostly yellowish brown with occasional pieces of carbon. In Y/16 there are a number of large stones, widely spread, among which the soil is medium brown with some carbon and palster.  In the eastern portion of Y/18, dark gray soil with carbon and plaster was revealed at the bottom of the cut.  This work produced 3 latte boxes of pottery and bone, a few small flakes of bronze, and 3/4 of a cassetta of tile and plaster.  A piece of slag (#2) and painted pottery were also recovered in this area.

Trimmed baulk in Y-Z/17-18 and began to trim baulk in Y-Z/16.  This work produced 1 1/4 latte boxes of bone and 1/5 of a cassetta of tile and plaster.  A piece of incised bucchero was found in sorting from this area.
