Metal Summary
Metal Summary
Little metal was found early on in T-36, with nothing related recovered in Locus 1/Topsoil and only a small bronze flake ( Find #1, p.81 ), concentrated in the northwestern meters of the trench.
In Locus 4, bronze fragments were more numerous ( Find #3, p.89 , Find #4, p.89 , Find #3, p.103 , Find #4, p.105 , Find #2, p.121 , Find #4, p.121 ), though they did not appear to be concentrated in any particular area.
The presence of the crucible fragment ( Find #2, p.95 ), the two pieces of slag ( Find #5, p.93 , Find #5, p.105 (, and the bronze ingot ( Find #2, p.113 ) - all from Locus 4 - suggests that metal industry may hae been occurring in the vicinity of T-36 during the Orientalizing period.
The only significant piece of worked metal recovered was an iron nail ( Find #6, p.121 ) found on the last day of work. Locus 4 remains open at the end of the 2004 season.
