Metal Summary

Metals Summary

14 pieces of metal were recovered from T-82. The majority of the loci did not have any metal finds. The only securely ancient contexts ( loci 10 and 11 ) yielded only amorphous bronze fragments. In locus 1 , a decorated bronze pin fragment ( 20160004 ) was recovered, however locus 1 was a dirt dump from the 2012 and 2013 excavations and therefore is out of context. The piece must have been missed in the initial excavations. In locus 2 , a bronze fibula bow fragment with raised nodules ( 20160006 ) and 3 small iron tacks were recovered. However, locus 2 , based on the modern material found, was a mixed-context stratum. In locus 3 , a blank bronze disc ( 20160007 ), a bronze rod fragment ( 20160003 ), and two iron tacks were recovered. These 4 items were all found within the packing of stones in locus 3 , however, none clarify the chronological date of the locus nor the use of metals in the vicinity of T-82.
