Area of stone packing in meters E128-9, S17-18 was brushed down and cleaned.  It was decided to take a shallow pick pass in these meters to further define the feature.  Soil remained consistent with descriptions of locus 15 and maintained that designation.  Several more stones were uncovered and included in locus 16.  The stones seemed to occur in a regular line and it was decided to define the feature by excavating the areas to either side.  Locus 15 was therefore closed at approx. 65cm.b.d.  60-65 very worn pieces of terracotta and 1/4 latte of ceramic and bone were

recovered from locus 15.  A pick pass was begun in meters E126, S17-18.  The area was designated locus 17 and was leveled to an approx. depth of 65-67cm.b.d.

Baulk along western portion of cut was trimmed.  The baulk comprises the pre-existing dirt dump and all material recovered from this work (4 pieces of terracotta, 4 ceramic, 1 bone) was discarded.

Cut was continued in meters E126-127, S17-18.  Soil remained yellowish-brown with occasional flecks of carbon.  The area maintained the designation locus 17.  Several large packed stones were noted, however no regular pattern appeared evident.  Approximately 25 pieces of terracotta* and 1/2 latte box of ceramic and bone were recovered from this work.  The area was leveled to approximately 70-73 cm.b.d.

*Several small chunks of plaster were also noted.
