The entire area of the trench was declared locus 4 this morning. Opening photos were taken. The soil of this locus is yellowish-brown. It is less crumbly and more clay-like than locus 3. A pick-pass was carried out over the entire trench. The trench was lowered approximately 5-20 cm. with the northwest corner being lowered the most. The sides of the locus were trimmed. Approximately 10 bowls of terracotta fragments were recovered. Approximately 1 1/3 latte boxes of pottery sherds were found. Three pieces of bone and a tooth were recovered. Two pieces of bulk iron slag were collected. There were 5 special finds.
