A.M.
Excavation continued in locus 4. A pick pass was started and completed this morning. The soil is dense and there are numerous small stones. Little pottery is being found, but moderate amounts of terracotta are being recovered. A stone (approximately 25 x 25 x 12 cm.) located in the center north area of the trench was removed (location: 190.15-E/48.7-S; 27.68 m. above absolute elevation). Two special finds were made this morning.

The surface of the trench was leveled, then the balk walls were cleaned. In locus 4 today 2 1/2 bowls of terracotta fragments were recovered. One-half latte box of pottery sherds (mostly impasto) found along with 1/5 latte box of bone and teeth. From the balk wall cleaning 2/3 bowl of terracotta fragments was recovered along with approximately a dozen pottery sherds.
