This morning locus 4 was declared for the entire trench since chalky white patches of soil were appearing.  Photos were taken.

NW:  187.7-E/48-S (27.72 m. below absolute elevation)

NE:  192-E/48-S (27.71 m. below absolute elevation)

SE:  192-E/51-S (27.64 m. below absolute elevation)

SW:  187.8-E/51-S (27.71 m. below absolute elevation)

Pick pass started beginning at the western end of the trench.  The soil appears to be becoming denser.  Five special finds were made.

First pick pass completed and a second one started.  Today, approximately 5 bowls of terracotta fragments were recovered along with one piece of plaster with reed impression.  Approximately 1/2 latte box of pottery sherds found (mostly impasto) along with 15 fragments of bone.
