Monday morning

We dig northward into K and L 89-90 to expose the cover tile attached to the antefix found Thursday. The tile is seemingly complete, and we leave it in situ to have photographs taken this afternoon.

We also dig northward in K-L 88-89 to a depth of ca. 65cm, the top of a white plaster soil overlying the brown plaster/ burn soil in which the antefix was found. In the brown plaster/ burn soil just over this plaster concentration numerous ivory and bone fragmens are found and the brown plaster soil generally also yields a few bronze flakes.

We did northward in M-R 91-92 to a depth of 10cm. Which yields a modest amount of tile and pottery. In L-M 90 we extend the trench eastward, reaching floor level, and in W 88-89 we continue cleaning the tile and soil from stump and baulk cleaning the area to floor level.

Yellow soil continues to overlie the floor.

The brown plaster burn soil over the white plaster layer in K-L 88-90 produces a great deal of tile (3 cassette) and plaster (1 cassetta), and some tile and plaster comes from around the cover tile below the white layer, as well as a fair amount of pottery (1/2 of a berry box), impasto, including fragments of large and small pots. Work in L-M 90 yields about a cassetta of tile and a fair amount of plaster. Here the tile concentration lightens. N 88-89 produces over 2 cassette of tile and about 1/3 a cassetta of plaster, and much of a latte box of pottery, while L-M 90 yields abour a berry box of impasto, some from large pots.
