The topsoil and several large stumps are removed from grids gamma-beta/21-22. Excavation wil not carry into the alpha grids. Some tile fragments are found almost on the surface of the topsoil in these grids. However, the majority of the tile fragments recoved this morning come from a depth of 45 cm. At this level a tile layer apparently begins, as several nearly complete cover tiles and pan tile fragments are uncoved, specifically in the delta/22 and beta/22 grids. The soil at the 45 cm depth is light, yellow in color and contains few pottery sherds.

Work consists of cleaning down tile fall along the east edge of the trench in grids gamma-delta/22. The fall varies in depth from 25 to 45 cm relative to the natural slope of the hill.
Evidence of the south wall expected to bisect the trench near the delt-epsilon grids has not yet been found. A portion of the above mentioned tile fall rests against several large stones, however, in the east section of the delta/22 grid.
