A pick pass was made in the western half of the trench.

While sorting through the dirt, a piece of slipped pottery was discovered.

While picking in the eastern half of the trench, the nail marking the point of discovery for the slipped pottery was knocked and an estimated of its origin was measured and recorded.

Special find #36: slipped pottery

Aprx: 27.35 m.AE

Aprx: 46.62 S / 168.77 E

A portion of slip is preserved along the exterior face, however, due to the dirt along the top, coating the slip, it is unclear how much remains on the surface.

Another pick pass was made in the western half of the trench. We are seeing small, worn pieces of plaster throughout the area recently picked as well as small pieces of charcoal throughout.

Special find #37: possible serpentine

A pick pass was made in the eastern half of the trench.

Special find #38: slipped pottery

27.39 m.AE

46.27 S / 170.45 E

A piece of pottery was discovered preserving slip on both sides of the fragment.

While scraping away at loose dirt, we began to see a more clay-like soil emerging underneath in the center of the trench. It was made clear that the soil was sloping up towards the western half of the trench. For a better visual, a pick pass was made in the western half of the trench to expose the surface of this new soil type. While sorting through loose soil resting on top, a bronze stud was discovered.

The clay-like soil appears to be reaching towards the western confines of the trench. Excavation will resume Monday for a visual of this soil in the eastern half of the trench.

While sorting through pottery at the end of the day, various joining pieces of pottery were discovered and will be labeled as a supplemental find.
