Soil: yellow/brown crumbly, claylike

Passes: trowel through center of trench - less than 1/3

Morning spent fixing baulk walls and continueing to uncover the tile spread moving North, using trowels.

12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

Tools: trowels, buckets, dustpan, hand-clippers

Soil: yellow/brown crumbly and claylike

Passes: center 1/3 of trench with trowel

Continued trowelling across the trench to the North.  Defining the space around the tree that will not be excavated.  Sporadically througout the soil are small patches of charcoal bits.
