The balk in meters H-J 97 was drawn (see
).The 5-10 cm cut in meters F-G 93-97 was completed, yielding 1 (large) cassetta of tile and one box of pottery. The soil in the east end of the cut continued to be dark brown, crumbly, and rooty, but in the western end it showed a higher clay content with many color variations (grey, orange, bluish gren, yellow) in no discernible pattern.
After the above cut was comleted, F-G 96-97 were taken to 15 cm. The soil continued brown, but contained a large number of small rocks randomly scattered throughout (left from an earlier dump, as well, it seems likely). This cut yielded one cassetta of tile.
Meters I-J 98 were xcavated 5-10 cm. Soil here was also brown topsoil, showing little deposit (1/4 cassetta tile).
