Civitate A2A
A 2.5 by 6 meter trench was dug on an east-west axis across the south end of Civitate A2 ( see p. 9 ) to form a T. A 50 cm dike was left between the two trenches to protect against fill cave-in for the time.
Digging on the first day went down to 110 cm, with tiles heavy and many pieces worn. Pottery was extremely light. At 45 cm, two joining parts of a Gorgon antefix were found, followed by three worn pieces of frieze and perhaps 8 fragments of cornice (both types). At 90 cm down and 110 cm west, a panther's head waterspout was excavated in the south wall.
