High concentrations of plaster were recovered from T26 in the 2024 season. Due to the volume of plaster, the fragments found in 2024 were divided as bulk finds between plaster with no diagnostic features, plaster with reed impressions, and vitrified plaster. Locus 40, a deposit composed of roof collapse from the destruction of OC2/Workshop, had the highest concentration of plaster fragments (13 buckets). The soil contained significant amounts of plaster, which at times had degraded into the soil, giving it a pinkish brown color. Notably, one fragment of plaster with a finer plaster finishing level (PC 20240031) and a fragment of plaster with a preserved surface and a beam impression (PC 20240032) were recovered. While not included in the totals above because it was uncovered but not excavated, Locus 39, is a plaster floor of the OC2/Workshop structure. Plaster found adhered to a cover tile in Locus 39 and the amount of plaster recovered in Locus 38 and 40, demonstrates that plaster was applied to the roofing system, perhaps to help hold the modular elements in place.
