A.M.

Cleaned away a work area for writing.

Continuation of reconstruction work. Plan to glue Bone A (Box 4) and then clean edges and lay out the reconstruction of Bone B (Box 5).

Completed gluing pieces of Bone A (Box 4). Because the bone had been filled with rootlets and earth and therefore pushed apart, many fragments were difficult to join and there are quite a few gaps showing the action of the rootlets and earth. Eight small fragments remain.

P.M.

Assisted by Richard Nootbaar and guest Bill Cooper.

Bone A (Box 4): the last glued piece (at proximal end) had slipped and had to be removed, cleaned, and reglued twice. It is a difficult piece due to warpage.

Richard worked on Bone 1 (Box 3): cleaned edges and attemping to glue pieces together. He also joined a small piece to Bone 2 (Box 3).

Bill re-cleaned edges and joined pieces to Bone B (Box 5) which appear to go together easily.

Began cleaning edges of Bone A (Box 5). Also attempted to glue a last small piece to Bone A (Box 4) - did not work - it broke the piece next t oit which had to be reglued.
