Continued excavating trench west of the well in CA42. In southwest coirner, galestra became more rocky. Baulks were trimmed after every few rounds of picking. The east side adjacent to the well was cut back approximately 10 cm in order to expose a small section of the well. Stones within the wall of the well were defined using mestelini.
In CA42N, a 5 cm cut was made in meters N10-12/W11-13. Trench level was evened out by excavating around the rocks and stumps. Several large stumps were taken out in the east part of the trench. A small bronze ring was unearthed in meter N11/W13 (Find #1).
Terracotta and pottery final count will be done at the end of the day.

In CA42N, finished ~5 cm cut in meters N13-14/W11-13. The soil is still olive brown and therefore was designated as continuation of Locus 1. More bedrock was uncovered in the northwest corner of the trench. The rest of the afternoon was spent excavating around the stumps in meters N10-12/W12-13. 85 tile pieces, 2 pieces of plaster, 10 readware fragments, creamware 2-roped handle (Find #20, and impasto base (Find #3) were recovered from CA42N.
CA42 well area was further excavated using picks and shovels. In the southwest corner, galestra turns into rock in patches. The wall of
the well was cleaned using small picks and mestelini. In the radius of approximately 20 cm around the well wall, galestra is visibly more saturated with water. The final depths reached today is approximately 125-130 cm b.d.
Photos and slides of the well were taken at the end of the day.
