The day began with the excavation of Locus 8 . A pick pass was begun in the western extension of the trench measuring 3m x 1m. Methodology of excavation will remain the same, the dirt will be broken up with a pick axe and picked up with shovels. The dirt will be then deposited into buckets which will be put into a wheelbarrow and sorted, then deposited onto the dirt dump to the south of the Medieval road. Once the loose dirt from that pick was cleared, another pick was thrown through the subsequent 3m x 1m extent of the trench, pulling back to the east. The soil continues to be full of roots and rocks. Once the soil from that pick was cleared, a third pick was done through the 3m x 1m extent of the trench running along the eastern wall. While excavation of Locus 8 continues, the baulk wall between T-66 and T-76 continued to be excavated. Once the pick was cleared,
another pass was begun starting at the western extent of the trench pulling to the east. Once the dirt from the 3m x 1m strip was cleared, another pick was completed through the 3m x 1m strip running through the middle extent of the trench. While clearing the dirt, a frieze plaque fragment (Special Find #1) was found.

Once the loose dirt from that pick was cleared, another pick was thrown through the 3m x 1m easternmost extent of the trench. More terracotta and pottery is evident in the soil. Once the soil from that pick was cleared, another pick
pass was begun in the western portion of the trench measuring 3m x 1m. Once the loose dirt from that pass was cleared, another pick was completed through the 3m x 1m strip pulling back to the east. The soil continues to be full of rocks and large and small roots. Once the dirt from that pick was cleared another was conducted through the westernmost part of the trench. Once that pick was cleared, another pick was thrown in the 3m x 1m strip running along the western wall. Once the loose dirt from that pick was cleared, another pick was done in the subsequent 3m x 1m middle strip of the trench. Dirt was cleared.
PM
Post-lunch, a pick was thrown along the eastern wall of the trench measuring 3m x 1m. Methodology remains the same- the dirt will be picked with a pick axe and shoveled into buckets. The buckets will then be sorted in a wheelbarrow and the dirt will then be dumped into the dirt dump to the south of the Medieval road. While clearing the soil, a sherd of ridged pottery (Special Find #2) was found.
