A new trench was laid out, 2.0m wide, adjoining trench 2E, and parallel to it; this trench is designated 2F.
Work also continued in the northern section of 2E, in the gaps between the stones. Some architectural fragments were found, and some pottery, but not significant individual finds were made.
In trench 2F surface soil was removed to a depth of 0.25m. Some small pieces of tile were found, and several architectural fragments. In the base of a large stump, at the east side of the trench, and about 3.0m from the south end, a piece of
raking sima was found.
This section of the trench, excavated from trench 2E, was taken down to a greater depth, and produced also several more smaller pieces of the warrior and chariot relief (warriors' legs and shields), at a depth of about 0.45m.
Work in trench 2E was finished today until the stones could be moved. For additional find, see p.144, find # 10 19670495
