Opening Elevations Locus 2:

NW: 25.02 m AE

NE: 25.21 m AE

SW: 24.95 m AE

SE: 25.02 m AE

The morning began with a pick through the .5 m x 4m strip running along the southern extent of locus 2. The soil is still very full of rocks and large to small roots. Extending out from the few stumps throughout the extension. In an effort to take down the level of the trench to the same as locus one of T-95 and locus 1 of T-94, methodology will temporarily change. The potential linear rock feature in the southeastern extent in T-94 looks as though it will be continuing into the northwestern extent of T-95. Pickaxing will continue but dirt will instead be picked up with shovels and will be sorted before being put in the dirt dump. All materials found so far within locus 2 are heavily abraded from erosion down the slope. Two more full pick passes were completed through the 2m x 4m extent of the locus. After the dirt was cleared, the baulk between locus 1 and locus 2 was taken down. After the baulk was cleared, another full pick was done through the entirety of the locus. While picking up the loose dirt, a tondo fragment was found.

Special Find #26: Tondo

Coordinates: 109.74 E/72.33 S

Elevation: 25.12 m AE

Shortly after, and iron fragment was found.

Special find #27: Iron

Coordinates: 106.34 E/72.95 S

Elevation: 24.80 m AE

Light baulk walling was done before lunch.

PM

Post-lunch, another pick was done, concentrating in the eastern half of the trench in order to level the higher portion of the locus. Once the dirt from this pick was cleared, another pick was done throughout the entirety of the locus. While picking, rocks were detected in the western lower portion of the trench. Given the potential rock feature in T-94, care will be taken to not disturb their placement in case they align. Once the dirt from this pick was cleared, another was begun throughout the entirety of the trench, again, avoiding the rocks in the southwestern portion of the trench. Light baulk walling and root clipping was done before the end of the workday.
