T21 was excavated in order to ascertain the presence of any light-frame architecture similar to the building in T21 (or a continuation of that building), the northern return of the southern defensive wall, and to enhance the understanding of the stratigraphy of that immediate area.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints and locus complications, the trench was not fully excavated to the galestra/bedrock level, so it will have to be completed another season in order to obtain the goal of enhancing understanding of the stratigraphy.

Beginning in locus 2, medium-sized stones (10-30 cm in diameter) began to appear, culminating in a "V"-shaped concentration in locus 6.  At first, this was thought to be evidence for lightweight architecture as either the edge of 2 drainage ditches or stones from the foundation, but continued excavation revealed no concentration of pottery in the immediate vicinity of the rocks nor significant internal/external relationships of the rocks to anythign else.  They were then removed.

of the return of the southern defensive wall through this area.  The lack of evidence for such a massive feature, though, leads one to think that it did not return through here.

As of so far, the results alone from this trench do not clarify much for the relationship between the archaic period and orientalizing period structures.  However, comparing the stratigraphy with trenches T22 west ext. ( KLH II ) and T21 ( ACL II ) will most likely increase the understanding of the topography of the area during the archaic and orientalizing periods.
