Tile 4

Pottery .5

Work continued cleaning the tile rock fall to floor level.  Good floor was found throughout PQ/89.  However, the floor continues to dip sharply northeast (more or less - the floor disappears into the PQ baulk and more excavation is necessary to fully determine what is happening to the floor).  Large rocks, plaster, tile and pithos still projected from the baulk with good floor running underneath.  Some burn material and vitrified tile were found in this area.  Very little pottery was found throughout the excavated area.  A small amount of bone was found.  The stump continued to be cleaned.  Very little was found.  The floor running east of the column base in MN/85.  A burn layer was found directly over floor level on the east side of the base.  Floor in this area showed damae of some sort of burning or disintegration.  Some small rocks and tiles were found projecting out from the floor.  In PQ/89 the floor was apparently burned and preserved a darkened color.  It apparently flattens out right before it diappears into the baulk.  There was some disintegrated plaster (some vitrified) above the floor level.  The gap in the floor continued to the stump in R/87.  It widened and the floor became less secure aroun it, particularly to the south.  the gap also deepened adn had some large rocks and afew pieces of plaster and tile inside.  Further excavation of this gap is necessary.
