STRATEGY: Number all diagnostic bones in death pit - take elevations on each stone & then number them.
SUMMARY: 1938 most bones were removed except the skull - a few more were discovered while cleaning - these were planned & numbered. Half a zambil of soil was taken as a sample. Also stone axe was found in the western slope of the death pit. Non numbered bones were also collected - these were examined by the animal bone specialist who identified most of them as human. About half of the numbered bones (& planned) turned out to be animal , many very well preserved from cows, sheep or goats and possibly deer. Large ceramic sherds ( & some smaller ones) were taken. 2 cores of lithics were taken as well. The following bones were removed (or numbered): under the bones - large stones begin to appear. At the very bottom of the pit - (near 1938/27) a strange arrangement of rock & bones appear. These have been left for futher examination.
