July 19 Monday A.M. only

The drawing of the trench having been completed, excavation proceeded with the removal of the stones forming the western wall of the feature, since these could have been unsafe if the pit continued deeper.  This brings the existing top of the stone feature down approx. 2 meters to the level of the previouslt exposed Eastern section - this entire cross-section will be drawn by the architect.

The stones composing the feature are all extremely rough, many are definitely not cut, while some appear to have been cut on the edges forming the contour of the hollow center of the feature, only.

Removal of the stones exposed the outline in the galestra of the ancient trench in which the stones were set - the pit is very regular and cylindrical in outline.

Finds from dirt fill between stones of western half of feature - 1 sherd, strangely burnt.
