Locus Summary

Locus Summary 6/7/2001 - 7/12/2001

The loci for the meters of CD9 contained in this book may appear complex, but the large number of loci actually result only from the fact that the trench spread out meter by meter from the original location.  There are actually only four stratigraphically important loci:

- Locus I: Topsoil, dense roots, dark brown color, depth 0 - approximately 10cm below soil.

- Locus II: Brown crumbly soil, less dense, depth approximately 10-25cm below soil.

- Locus III: Lighter yellow/brown soil, more compact, somewhat clay-like, depth greater that 25cm below soil down to ancient surface.

- Locus IV: The "wall" assemblage of rocks and associated soil near, on top of, and between rocks.

Since different meters were given the same locus number originally (e.g. loci 1,2,3,4), which may be confusing, the following re-definititons will be employed:

Locus Matrix

* note there is no Locus 10.
