The meter-wide tile bed was photographed and lifting begun.


The trench was cleaned and photographed

The second layer was taken off. Bedrock appeared in the southeastern half of the trench forming an irregular pattern with no clear indications of the shape of the southern wall.


A new trench was laid out east of 1N, 1X and 1Z, see . Topsoil was removed for about half the trench.
