The trench was layed out to the connected grid for 2015 and therefore encompasses parts of T-57 and T-59. It also catches the corner of a 1966 test trench, as well as part of its dirt dump. Locus 1 will envelop the remaining top soil in the trench. Leaves and other material were cleared and opening photos, a sketch, and elevations were taken.

A pick pass was made in the northernmost 2 meters of the trench. Soil was sorted by hand into buckets, and then dumped into a wheelbarrow. Soil is a dark brown hue, containing a large degree of organic material, as well as being very granular in nature. Granulations vary between small and large and the soil contains few pieces
of terracotta and bone.

A pick pass was done in the southern half of the locus. Soil continues to be a top soil full of organics, worn tile and small stones. Soil was sorted and removed.
