Daily Log

19 July 1968

Nineteen boxes of tile were dumped today. 85 pieces were excavated. 40 pieces of frieze, 17 of them "campstool" fragments, were excavated. In grid M7 a whole left half of a "campstool" frieze was excavated. It is a good impression and has some paint. A good impression was left in the soil; thus, a gesso impression was made of the frieze by the architect. Statue frag.s to another horse were found in grid L3 strata (C). In grid M3, strata (C) another "sire" head was excavated. "Antoinette" as she was named, was in a fragile state, not having been well-fired she tended to crumble some around the locks, nose, and eyebrows (19680635). Another gorgon antefix with an attached tile was found. A very nice gorgon, Grid M4 strata (C). Also some frags. of a "warriors frieze".
