Clusters of pithos fragments and tiles remain mainly in three areas in the NE corner (grid A 2-3), in the SE corner (grid E-F 2), and along the W border of the present cut (A-F 4). Our intention was to lift these fragments and excavate the lower layer of the burnt stratum, str. D. Two complete pots, one impasto and one bucchero vase, scalloped, were found in grid C2 lying right next to a pithos fragment, standing upright. An almost complete impasto jar had already been excavated the previous (cont'd on p. 67)

Pithos fragments were lifted in E-F 2-3. Half of a scalloped bowl and the neck of an oinochoe were found squeezed in between two pithos fragments where these were lifted an iron rod ? appeared further down. It was covered up and left for the moment.
Work was concentrated to the center of the trench in the burnt stratum (str. D). Ivory fragments appeared all over the trench. (see
