Pottery Summary
Pottery summary:
A great deal of pottery was recovered from CC-7 this season. 91.82% of the pottery recovered came from the area directly above and within the rock feature that is centrally located in the final trench, and includes Locus 2 (northern half of rock feature), Locus 5 (southern half of rock feature), Locus 7 (which is the eastern 2 meters of rock feature), and Locus 8 (combined Locus 2, 5 and 7 when they were taken down to the same level). Courseware made up 41.17% of the pottery recovered and Impasto made up 46.74%. The majority of the fine impasto came from Loci 2,5,8 and 49 sherds of the 52 sherds of bucchero came from Locus 5. The majority of the pottery excavated in CC-7 appears to be from the orientalizing period, but a few examples of decorated medieval pottery were recovered as well.
