The work concentrated today in CA42N. Meters N14-15 W10 were taken down to the level of sterile soil, approximately 130 cm b.d., which was designated locus 6 (5Y7/3-6/3). There is a large bedrock outcropping in the middle of meters N13-14 W10 which seems to form a natural barrier east of which locus 5 seems to go much deeper than in the west part of the meter N14 W10. Most material seems to be coming from eastern part of the meter. On the east section of CA42N locus 5 (olive brown soil with few carbon incl.) seems to form a lense. It's shape and material recovered indicated a possible midden. Pottery and tile count will be done in the afternoon.

The afternoon was spent excavating meters N13 W10, also designated locus 5, to sterile soil in order to see the extent of locus 5 (2.5Y 4/3, olive brown soil) to the south. very little material came from the western half of the meter and bedrock stones were reached at the depth of approximately 110cm b.d. Material recovered today from locus 5 included: 47 tile pieces, 27 bone fragments (including 2 teeth), 22 coarseware, 10 redware, 69 impasto fragments, and a worked chest.
